This project involved the refurbishment, modification and extension of a disused railway to provide a modern state of the art medical centre, Dundalk Primary Care Unit.
The Primary Care Unit comprises a main reception, a public waiting and play area, toilets, clinical facilities for health and social services, staff offices, staff facilities and general service facilities including stores, boiler room and a switch room.
Semple & McKillop were appointed by the Health Services Executive to provide design and site supervision for all new mechanical, electrical and lift services.
A key consideration was the retention of some of building’s existing character.
Sustainable designs that were incorporated in the design of this project were gas condensing technology, underfloor heating and low energy lighting controls.
Semple & McKillop worked as part of an integrated team with Van Dijk Architects to successfully complete this project.
