This project entailed the extension and refurbishment of an existing space to provide a new 600msq Intensive Care Unit at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. The Unit comprises five single rooms, nurse station, clean utility room with blood bank, equipment & general stores, rest room, sluice room, shower area and staff & patient toilets.
The project was complex as the works were cited on the 4th floor of a 7-story tower block and surrounded by three live medical wards. Design and logistic challenges were overcome due to our careful coordination and planning with clinical teams and contractors and the phased decanting of medical wards to enable 2 of 3 medical wards to remain operational at all times.
In addition to the standard services, including air handling and conditioning systems, specialist M&E services included:
IPS and UPS.
Digital Addressable Lighting Interface controls.
Wireless personal staff attack system.
IP Nurse call system (no exchange necessary).
Tandem mounted twin-arm, horizontal articulation medical pendant, one in each intensive care unit, to support medical services for each ICU bed.
