There is considerable top end residential development underway in Bucharest, mostly in the northern suburbs.  New Town will be one of the first of several residential developments aimed at the Bucharest middle market.  Located in the eastern sector of Bucharest on a former industrial site close to good over ground and underground public transport links, New Town will consist of 680 apartments ranging from compact studios to generous three bedroom duplexes.  Each owner will have the option to purchase at least one car parking space located in one of two underground levels.
Buildings in Bucharest are necessarily robust as they are designed to withstand high seismic loads.  The use of continuous glass balconies in the design captures a lighter more modern aesthetic. Demolition and ground preparation commenced in October 2006, and the first phase of 330 apartments, completed in July 2009.
