The New Mersey Leisure (NML) scheme is the redevelopment of a former railway sidings site of 56 acres to provide a mix of contemporary retail, leisure and commercial office space close to Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport.

Master planning of the site was undertaken with engagement with the local authority to enable agreement of a development sequence which integrates commercial viability and established planning principles whilst managing impact on existing and related new utilities infrastructure.

Civil Engineering aspects of the first phase of the scheme includes re-planning of local highway junctions, expansion of drainage and utilities networks, and design of a sustainable drainage strategy for the site (including permeable surfacing and sub-surface attenuation storage).

The eight buildings which occupy the first phase include retail blocks, restaurants, hotels, and a multiplex cinema all served by a 600 space parking facility.
