St Oliver Plunkett Primary school is a 5 class base replacement primary school, situated on a green field site on the periphery of the village of Forkhill. The site has a significant slope and therefore retention was required at boundaries to fit the building and associated play areas within the site. Modular block retention was chosen as the most cost effective solution.
The Multi Purpose Hall is a concrete framed construction. Classroom block is a single storey load bearing masonry construction, with classrooms arranged around a central courtyard and also houses the school meals accommodation, administration and resource areas.
The associated entrance road, car parking and play areas were constructed at different levels around the site to suit the existing topography, which in turn created the need for retaining structures and integral ramps and steps.
