Ardnashee School

Albert Fry Associates are pleased to have been appointed by the Education Authority (Western Region) as Civil and Structural consulting engineers for the design and delivery of the new-build Ardnashee Special School and College (currently at site). The selected steeply sloping site was previously occupied by Foyle Academy Junior School at Northland Road, Derry. The campus with an LIA of 8815m2 will meet the curricular needs of 275 pupils aged 3-19 with profound, moderate and severe learning difficulties (with scope for future expansion and adaption) in accordance with Department Building Bulletin 102 (design for children with special educational needs) and will achieve an excellent BREEAM standard. Specialist facilities include a hydrotherapy pool, two multi-purpose halls, a gymnasium and suites for art, music, T&D, drama and HE. The chosen structural form comprises a fully steel framed, largely double height building constructed on conventional spread foundations.
