Springvale Heavy Production Facility

Caterpillar (NI) Ltd (formerly F.G. Wilson (Eng) Ltd) is a pioneer in the design and manufacture of diesel and gas generator sets, and a global player and world leader in the provision of power generating solutions.

In 2000 F.G. Wilson (Eng) Ltd commenced construction of a new 35,000m² factory at Springvale. The factory specialises in sheet metal fabrication, sound attenuated and weatherproof canopy enclosures and electronics manufacture and assembly.

Albert Fry Associates played a key role in diverting and culverting the Clooney River by means of tunnelling. Furthermore, we enabled the cutting back of earth embankments to the Mackie’s Dam by means of retaining walls. In addition, we remediated buried contaminants associated with the original usage of the site as a munitions factory.

Subsequently we developed an 8 bay, 35m span portal frame construction with 10m eaves height and extensive provision for EOT carnage. These elements are despatched to the company’s plant at Larne for assembly and testing prior to sale.

Albert Fry Associates maintain a continuous and harmonious ongoing relationship with Caterpillar (NI) Ltd; we consider them to be amongst our most valued and prestigious clients.
